In conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit, a series of road closures and diversions will be implemented across the Klang Valley from Friday, May 23, to Wednesday, May 28. These measures are to facilitate the movement and security of foreign dignitaries and summit delegates.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director, Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, announced that a total of 789 traffic police personnel will be deployed throughout the six-day period.
“Our teams will manage VVIP motorcade escorts and traffic control at critical junctions. A total of 36 cars, 313 high-powered motorcycles, 190 regular motorcycles, and several tow trucks will be on standby,” he said at a press conference held on Monday, May 19.
Key Details:
- Dry runs for the road diversions will take place on Wednesday (May 21) and Thursday (May 22).
- Closures and diversions will be conducted in stages between 8 am and 8 pm each day.
- Affected routes include access points to Kuala Lumpur city centre, KLIA, Subang Air Force Base, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Istana Negara, and major hotels hosting foreign delegates.
Public Advisory:
- The public is strongly advised to avoid the affected routes during this period.
- Use of public transport is encouraged to reduce congestion.
- Commercial vehicles are prohibited from entering the city centre during peak hours:
- Morning: 6.30am – 7.30am
- Evening: 4.30 pm – 7.30 pm
- Morning: 6.30am – 7.30am
- Any vehicle found parked indiscriminately in restricted areas will be towed immediately.
