i-City and Wyndham Unveil RM200mil AI Hotel Project

Kuala Lumpur, 2 September 2025 – i-City, Malaysia’s award-winning smart city, has entered into a landmark partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to unveil Wyndham i-City this December, an RM200 million investment that will redefine the hospitality landscape through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). This milestone development comes as i-City prepares to debut i-City AI World, an immersive AI and robotics experience centre, together marking the next stage in Malaysia’s transformation into a global smart tourism hub.

Wyndham i-City will feature 200 fully furnished suites ranging from one- to three-bedroom layouts, each designed with kitchens and modern amenities to meet the needs of families, long-stay guests, and international business travellers. The project builds on the runaway success of Wyndham Suites KLCC, which has enjoyed remarkable occupancy rates since opening last year, and takes the concept further by weaving AI-driven solutions into daily hospitality services. From streamlined check-ins to personalised guest experiences, Wyndham i-City is positioned to be a model of how technology can reshape the hotel industry.

This launch comes at a pivotal moment as i-City strengthens its reputation as a leading destination where technology, tourism, and lifestyle intersect. With the city’s globally recognised theme park already attracting millions of visitors annually, the addition of AI World and Wyndham i-City is expected to spark a new wave of “tech-tourism.” Guests will not only stay longer but also spend more, drawn by unique experiences that merge entertainment, education, and innovation.

Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman of I-Bhd, described the project as a bold step forward. “Our collaboration with Wyndham has always been about pushing boundaries and creating experiences that are game-changing. With the introduction of AI World and our partnership with AgiBot, we are positioning i-City as Malaysia’s first AI & Robotics Experience Centre. Wyndham i-City will stand as a cornerstone of this vision, showing how hospitality and technology can seamlessly converge to create something extraordinary,” he said.

The partnership between i-City and Wyndham has already borne fruit through projects such as WynSnow, a year-round indoor winter wonderland, and WynSports, an indoor active entertainment hub. Both attractions have raised the bar for tourism offerings in Malaysia, and Wyndham i-City is set to extend this streak of innovation by combining smart living with world-class hospitality.

Beyond being a catalyst for tourism, Wyndham i-City reflects a broader vision for Malaysia’s future economy. The introduction of AI World marks the beginning of a larger roadmap that will extend robotics into diverse sectors, including healthcare, residential living, and wellness. Upcoming concepts such as AI Park, a health-focused residential development powered by AI, will continue to push the boundaries of what an intelligent city can offer. These projects are not only designed to attract visitors but also to position Malaysia as a leader in AI-driven urban development.

Wyndham i-City is not only about redefining stays, it’s about showing the world what AI-powered living can become. Our pilots worldwide have already demonstrated the power of AI and robotics in transforming the hospitality industry. With Wyndham i-City, we have another milestone in our partnership with i-City, one that allows us to deliver next-generation guest experiences in a destination that is at the forefront of innovation,” said Ooi Joon Aun, Asia Pacific President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
