Dr Harikrishna made a major contribution to the area of wound care when he supported the Malaysian Ministry of Health and constituted the National Committee in Wound Management. Dr. Harikrishna was a founding member of this group and was instrumental in establishing national norms and procedures for wound care, guaranteeing the best practical care for patients throughout the nation.

Apart from his involvement with the National Committee, Dr. Harikrishna was also instrumental in the establishment of the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals, an association devoted to promoting the field of wound care and encouraging cooperation between medical practitioners. Dr. Harikrishna’s vision and leadership propelled Malaysia to the forefront of the global wound care scene and improved the nation’s standing in the area.

Undeterred by obstacles, he has championed the cause of diabetic foot care, leading initiatives to address the burgeoning healthcare burden posed by diabetes-related complications. His tireless efforts have earned him accolades, including the prestigious World Health Organization Dr. Lee Jong-wook Memorial Prize for Public Health.
