The largest durian buffet and cultural extravaganza kicks off at Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Bukit Jalil — 8th September, the 3rd Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Fest 2023 kicked off with a grand ceremony at Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s Piazza Pavilion. Dato Dr. Ammar Abd Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, along with Brand Event Ambassadors Dato Aaron Aziz, Amber Chia, and Chan Fong, inaugurated this event. Organised by Malaysian companies DKing and LKE Musang Queen, the festival aims to become an annual tradition, known as “Durian Day” or “DurianFest”, showcasing Malaysia’s rich durian and cultural heritage.

Mr. Leron Yee, Founder of DKing and the Mastermind behind the Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Fest 2023, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all collaborative partners who contributed to the event’s remarkable success. Despite a minor setback in June 2023, the festival now boasts sponsors and partners, increasing the value of goodies bags and offering a variety of premium durian selections. Lucky draws and live performances add to the festivities.

Attendees can luxuriate in an extensive durian banquet featuring premium selections like D101, D24, Red Prawn, Butter King, and high-quality Musang King, available for individual purchase at a tempting RM45 for a 300-gram portion.

Dato Dr. Ammar Abd Ghapar shared Tourism Malaysia’s hopes for such positive events, targeting 16.1 million international tourists this year, which would greatly benefit Malaysia’s economy.

The event has drawn over 3,000 local and 600 international durian lovers, promoting healthy activities like the Durian Fun Run and family-oriented events. Melife, a strategic partner, aims to break Malaysia Book of Records and raise funds for charity.

Notably, Brand Event Ambassadors Dato Aaron Aziz and Amber Chia, once non-durian eaters, have become enthusiasts, underscoring the importance of durian quality.
