Selangor, 21st March – Binary University has announced a strategic partnership with 19 NGOs and private organisations to offer 1000 full scholarships for students from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The initiative, called MyBinary Unity Scholarship, aims to help the government improve access to higher education, especially for marginalised and B40 communities.

The RM75 Million Scholarship program was launched as a master CSR program in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of Binary University which will be celebrated in 2024. The ceremony was inaugurated by the Minister of Human Resources, YB Tuan V. Sivakumar.
Additionally, the initiative also supports the Unity Government programmes such as the Menu Ramah, e-kredit for Youth, the People’s Income Initiative Programme, and Program Sumbangan Tunai Ramah.
The scholarship covers six degree programs; BA Hons Business Management, BSc Hons Computer Science, BA Hons Accounting, BA Hons Marketing, BSc Hons Management of Technology, and BA Hons Entrepreneurship. All programs are conducted in English, except for the Diploma in Computer & Management, which is conducted in Malay. The minimum entry requirement is 5 credits in SPM or 3 Principles in STPM.
Applications for the scholarship can be made by visiting binary.edu.my/mybus, and the closing date for applications is 10 April 2023 for the admission session starting on 10 May 2023. A special Scholarship Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and comprising independent members will make selections to ensure transparency.
In his speech at the ceremony, Binary University Founder and Executive Chairman YBhg Tan Sri Dato Professor Joseph Adaikalam had emphasised the importance of industry-specific skills for graduates in order to increase their employability. Binary University uses two unique strategies to address this problem; the ISP Centre of Excellence and the Asia Centre for Entrepreneurship. The ISP Centre of Excellence, which is endorsed by 1,280 Faculty of Industry Experts, helps Binary produce Graduates Industry Specialist Professionals (ISP), resulting in a very high employability rate of 96%. The Asia Centre for Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, helps produce young entrepreneurs, developing a large Entrepreneur Ecosystem where over 10,500 local and international entrepreneurs work with Binary University to provide business opportunities, financial assistance, and mentoring potential entrepreneurs.
The Minister of Human Resources, YB Tuan V.Sivakumar said education is the “greatest social equaliser” to enhance the socio-economic status of any society, specifically B40. The MyBinary Unity Scholarship program will help 1000 families, and the impact of this program will be felt for decades in the future. He thanked the Senate Binary University for taking this initiative and also for supporting the efforts of the unity government.
The 19 NGOs and private organisations selected to work together on MyBinary Unity Scholarship are the National Federation of Women Entrepreneurs, Persatuan Pengguna Harapan, DHRAA, DPI Media, Persatuan Gagasan Sukarelawan, PerKIM, PAR, WanitaElit, Malaysian Hindu Sangam, and MIYC.
