A fence may define a boundary, but at Fenceliner, Tan Kah Jian sees it as the beginning of something bigger. His journey into the fencing industry is a story of recognising an opportunity, finding direction and having the determination to build something with purpose.
As the second generation of a family rooted in the hardware industry for four decades, Tan was introduced early to the world of building materials and tools. Rather than simply continuing the family legacy, he explored different industries and market trends before discovering the fencing sector, the space where his entrepreneurial instincts finally found their footing. Fenceliner Sdn Bhd was subsequently registered in 2025 under his leadership.

Fenceliner specialises in high-quality fencing solutions for homes, businesses and architectural projects, combining security, durability and aesthetics. Its portfolio includes BRC Fence FA and FV Series, metal deck hoarding, anti-climb and semi anti-climb fencing, chain link and cyclone mesh, electrode mesh, WPC fencing, as well as custom-made doors and gates.
But Tan’s ambitions extend beyond supplying fencing products. His vision is to establish Fenceliner as Malaysia’s No. 1 trusted fencing brand, supported by a mission to deliver complete, reliable and stylish outdoor solutions through innovative materials, modern technology and expert craftsmanship.
Every stage of Fenceliner’s growth has brought a new question: where to invest, when to hold back, and what will create lasting value. Managing cash flow and knowing when to conserve capital have been among the challenges of building the business. For Tan, every investment must serve a clear direction, because without direction, even a capable team can lose its way.
His leadership is distinctly hands-on. With more than 30 employees under his leadership, Tan remains involved, stepping onto project sites, guiding his team and understanding the realities behind each installation. Fenceliner likewise emphasises professional expertise, continuous training, safety and development across its team.

Drawing inspiration from Elon Musk’s determination and refusal to give up when pursuing a clear objective, Tan believes that leadership begins with having a clear sense of direction. For him, a leader must know where the company is going while ensuring everyone understands how to get there together.
Fenceliner’s G.P.S. values- Gratitude, Promises and Sustainability- reflect that direction: value people, honour commitments, and build for the long term.
The ambition is clear: to take Fenceliner from a growing specialist to a recognised name across Malaysia within five years. For Tan, the journey is not simply about how high the company can climb, but how firmly it can be built along the way with purpose, perseverance and a clear sense of direction. After all, when the vision is clear, every boundary becomes a starting point.
